Filing of civil complaint
Effective May 1, 2013, the Judicial Conference established a $50 administrative fee for filing a civil action, suit or proceeding in a U.S. District Court. As a result, the fee for filing a new civil case has increased to $400 ($350 filing fee + $50 administrative fee).
The $50 administrative fee does not apply to miscellaneous civil cases; habeas corpus cases; or to cases filed by pro se prisoner plaintiffs who have been provisionally granted permission to proceed in forma pauperis.

Please refer to the District Court Miscellaneous Fee Schedule for all other fees to be charged for services provided.
For the retrieval of an electronic document from the Federal Records Center in Atlanta, in addition to the $10.00 fee noted by the District Court Miscellaneous Fee Schedule, a $9.90 FRC fee and $0.65 per page fee applies. Rates may differ for electronic retrievals from a storage location other than the FRC in Atlanta. Electronic retrievals are limited to 100 pages and must be coordinated through the Clerk's Office.
