Filing of civil complaint
Effective May 1, 2013, the Judicial Conference established a $50 administrative fee for filing a civil action, suit or proceeding in a U.S. District Court. As a result, the fee for filing a new civil case has increased to $400 ($350 filing fee + $50 administrative fee).
The $50 administrative fee does not apply to miscellaneous civil cases; habeas corpus cases; or to cases filed by pro se prisoner plaintiffs who have been provisionally granted permission to proceed in forma pauperis.
Filing of notice of appeal in any case - fee includes docket fee of the United States Court of Appeals $505.00

Retrieval of one box of records from a Federal Records Center, National Archives, or other storage location removed from the place of business of the court.
For retrievals involving multiple boxes, $39 for each additional box.
The cost associated with electronic document retrievals from the Federal Records Center in Atlanta includes a $10.00 electronic retrieval fee, $9.90 FRC fee and $0.65 per page fee per document. Electronic retrievals are limited to 100 pages per the Federal Records Center and must be coordinated through our Clerk's Office. Please note that rates may differ for electronic retrievals from any other storage location.
Witness Attendance Fee - Per Day $40.00
Processing fee for petty offense charged on a federal violation notice $30.00
For handling registry funds deposited with and held by the court, the clerk shall assess a charge from interest earnings, in accordance with the detailed fee schedule issued by the Director of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
For management of registry funds invested through the Court Registry Investment System, a fee at an annual rate of 10 basis points of assets on deposit shall be assessed from interest earnings, excluding registry funds from disputed ownership interpleader cases deposited under 28 U.S.C. § 1335 and held in a Court Registry Investment System Disputed Ownership Fund.
For management of funds deposited under 28 U.S.C. § 1335 and invested in a Disputed Ownership Fund through the Court Registry Investment System, a fee at an annual rate of 20 basis points of assets on deposit shall be assessed from interest earnings.
The Director of the Administrative Office has the authority to waive these fees for cause.
