Judge Suzanne Bauknight organized a community outreach initiative called Justice for All which was an all day event held on March 29, 2018. Judge Bauknight has plans for this outreach be a bi-annual event and to also be offered in all divisions within the Eastern District of Tennessee. The next Justice for All is already in the planning stages to be held November 9, 2018.
Eighteen students and chaperones from Fulton High School and South-Doyle High School participated in this outreach activity. The program consisted of a courthouse tour, including a visit to the U.S. Marshal's Service for a demonstration of their equipment. Following the tour, a panel discussion entitled "Pursuit of a Dream" was held in the grand jury room. The panel consisted of deans of area law schools, local practicing attorneys, and law students from the area law schools. The high school students showed great appreciation for hearing the personal experiences of the panelist in their journey to choose a career in law.
Lunch was provided by the Federal Bar Association where the students were able to interact with federal judges and the panel participants. In the afternoon, the students participated in mock trials which was followed by a panel discussion with federal, appellate and state court judges.
