| 1. Failure to consult the User’s
Guide. The User’s Guide will answer almost any question you have. It is located on our web site,
www.tned.uscourts.gov under “Electronic Case Filing Topics.” Using the html version, you can jump from the Table of Contents to associated text or you can text search using Ctrl F. |
| 2. Choosing the wrong event for your pleading. If you make this mistake, you will be required to re-file your pleading. Avoid this by checking ALL the categories and events before making your choice. For your convenience, a list of the events is on our web site under “Electronic Filing Topics.” If you are unsure, call the Clerk’s Office. It will save us all a lot of time. |
| 3. Not redacting personal identifiers from documents. See Local Rule 7.3. The responsibility for redacting personal identifiers rests solely with counsel and the parties. The Clerk will not review filed documents to assure compliance with this rule. |
| 4. Filing documents in support of motions as attachments to the motion. Memoranda and affidavits in support of motions must be filed separately from the motion using the events under “Filings in Support of Motion.” |
| 5. Filing stipulations as motions. Stipulations which do not require a judge’s signature
should be filed using the events under “Other Documents.” Agreed orders which require the judge’s signature
must be filed as attached to a joint motion. |
| 6. Filing complaints or removal papers as attachments to a Return of Service. It is unnecessary to do this as these documents are already part of the court record. |
| 7. Manually filing large documents. Filed documents cannot be greater than 2.5 MB in size. Documents greater than 2.5 MB in size must be divided into separate documents less than 2.5 MB in size. If you need assistance with this, please contact the Clerk’s Office. Manually filing large documents is not an option unless: (A) it is the administrative record in a social security case; (B) it is the state court record in a habeas case; or (C) you have prior permission from the court. See Standing Order In Re: Electronic Case Filing Rules and Procedures ¶¶ 4.2 & 4.8 (located on web site under “Electronic Case Filing Topics”). |
| 8. Not properly “signing” agreed proposed orders. You must either file a scanned image of the document containing all necessary signatures OR file the document without the requisite signatures but with your representation that the other parties have consented to the filing of the document. See Standing Order In Re: Electronic Case Filing Rules and Procedures ¶ 6 (located on web site under “Electronic Case Filing Topics”). |
| 9. Duplicating text in docket entries. For example, when using the event “Stipulation,” if you text in “Stipulation for Extension of Time” the resulting docket entry will read “STIPULATION Stipulation for Extension of Time.” |
| 10. Failure to timely re-file pleadings when directed by the Clerk’s Office. |
| 11. Replying to
